Keep your family in the home, no matter what
Life insurance sized to your mortgage: if you pass away, your family receives the money to pay off the home. If you get seriously ill, you can use part of it to keep making payments.
- Licensed agents in the U.S.
- The money goes to your family, not the bank
- Living benefits: critical, chronic or terminal illness

In short
- Mortgage protection is life insurance with coverage equal to what you owe on your home and a term matching your loan.
- If you pass away, your family receives the money and decides: pay off the home, keep making payments or use it for other needs.
- With living benefits, a serious illness releases part of the coverage so you can keep your payments up to date.
The three risks that make families lose their home
The mortgage payment keeps coming every month, even when the income stops.
Death
The person paying for the home is gone, and the family is left with the whole debt. The policy pays the coverage amount to pay it off or keep paying.
Serious illness
Cancer, a heart attack or a stroke can stop work for months. Living benefits release part of the coverage for payments and treatment.
Chronic illness
When someone can no longer work or care for themselves. Living benefits also cover these cases, according to the policy.
The bank's insurance or mortgage protection?
Many people think they're already covered by the insurance the lender offers. The difference is big:
| Lender's insurance | Mortgage protection | |
|---|---|---|
| Who receives the money | The bank | Your family |
| Coverage over the years | Goes down with the debt | Stays level for the term |
| Pays while living for a serious illness | No | Yes, with living benefits |
| If you move or refinance | It ends | It stays with you |
Lender insurance (like PMI) protects the lender, not your family. Check your own contract.

Frequently asked questions
What is mortgage protection insurance?
It's life insurance with coverage equal to your mortgage balance and a term matching your loan, usually 15, 20 or 30 years. If you pass away during that time, your family receives the coverage amount.
Does the money go to the bank?
No. It goes to the beneficiary you choose, who decides whether to pay off the home, keep making payments or use it for something else.
I already have the insurance my lender offered. Do I need this?
Lender insurance protects the lender: it pays the debt, goes down over time and ends if you refinance. Mortgage protection protects your family and can pay while you're living if you get seriously ill.
Do I need a green card?
Not necessarily. Many people living in the U.S. apply with a valid passport and an ITIN (the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, for those without a Social Security number). The insurance company makes the final decision; your agent will check your case.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your age, health, mortgage balance and term. That's why we ask for your date of birth and gender: the agent calls with a price range in mind.
Which insurance company backs my policy?
We currently represent National Life Group, Foresters Financial, American National, Mutual of Omaha and Pan-American Life, all insurance companies with over 100 years in business. The company's name is on your quote before you sign, and your agent explains why it's the best fit for your case.
Does filling out the form mean I have to buy?
No. The form only lets an agent contact you and show you your options. You decide afterwards.
